Bought a set of these last year and they worked fine. Needed to remove my rear wheel yesterday, inverted the bike, the lever wouldn't open. Tried tapping on it with a wrench, no joy. Positioned the bike at several angles in my work stand, again to no avail. Also tried using a magnet as another reviewer suggested, no luck.
The wheel had to come off! Grabbed the lever with a pair of pliers, swung it to the open position. The lever didn't bend, but the locking mechanism no longer worked.
Threw the Zefal skewers in the trash and put my originals ones back on.

Can be defeated with a kitchen magnet while in the locked position. Close skewer and turn it to the locked position. Next, place magnet over the symbol of the "locked" lock and, it opens as if it were in the "unlocked" position!! It would be a good item if a magnet did not render it useless, but the designer overlooked a major flaw before releasing this item. A good thief will keep up to date on the latest security devices, and Zefal just made their jobs a whole lot easier!
