I think they stop better than the more expensive rotors, mainly because they're drilled and offer a lot more surface contact area then some of the fancier cut out rotors. Remember, braking is all about friction and the less contact area a rotor has, the less stopping power it will have.  Good rotor, supposed to be used with sintered pads, but I'm not :), This review is from: Shimano RT53 Rotor (Misc.) My bike came stock with this disc. I'm using Avid BB7 brakes. Stopping is very sure, quick, and quiet with this rotor. However, it is not a heat treated rotor, which means that it is only supposed to be used with organics brake pads (not sintered pads). This is stamped onto the side of the rotor. But for what it's worth I _am_ using Avid sintered pads with the rotor. I do see wear on the rotor, which is to be expected when running a non-heat-treated rotor with sintered pads, but I guess it'll be ok as long as I keep an eye on the rotor and replace it when it gets too worn. I'm going to keep it set up like this for now because the stopping is excellent and I've already got several spare sintered pads. good, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Shimano RT53 Rotor (Misc.)
