(Misc.) I bought two of these. I installed one of them on my son's 20" mountain bike with conventional brakes and the other on my 26" mountain bike with disc brakes. Both installed quickly and snugly. The adjustment mechanism easily accomodated both bikes. Hardware seemed to be good quality, much better than the "Greenfield Stabilizer Rear Mount Alloy ATB Kickstand, Black" model that I also ordered and installed but that broke almost immediately. (Misc.) Because of the position of my front derailleur on my Specialized hybrid (Crosstrail Elite), I couldn't install a kickstand in the conventional place behind the bottom of the seat tube. So I went with this kickstand because it's adjustable and compatible with disc brakes. Unfortunately, the top mounting bracket couldn't reach my seat tube, so I tightened those bolts all the way to avoid rattling noises and mounted it just on the chain stay (with a piece of rubber from an old tube as a shim). It's been very sturdy so far and hasn't required any tightening; same with the adjustment bolt on the leg of the kickstand. I regularly have the bike parked with 15+ lbs. on the rear rack and the kickstand engaged. Though it's not mounted in both places, it's still sturdy and I'm happy with its performance. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful  Looks kinda cool. Scott Sub 30, Novara Randonee, Electra Townie. Didn't fit any of 'em, and I'm not inclined to clamp the heck out of it on a single tube. Seems precarious and or creates the potential to rotate over time with the flange impinging on the spokes. Will keep looking. Also, there are no installation instructions/options on the packaging. So, not sure if a single-tube installation is even an appropriate option. Rats. |
